THE TEAM YOU WILL BE JOINING
- Join a large, established organization undergoing a significant transformation across its enterprise technology infrastructure.
- Partner directly with senior infrastructure leadership, cloud architecture, database, security, application, and external technology partners.
- This team is modernizing a complex environment spanning Azure, on-premises infrastructure, networking, security, and enterprise platforms.
- You will operate as a senior individual contributor within the IT PMO, with high visibility across technical and executive leadership.
- This is not a generalist technology PM role. The team is specifically looking for someone who has successfully led complex infrastructure programs.
LOCATION
- Fort Mill, SC, within the Charlotte metro area.
- On-site 5 days per week.
WHAT THEY OFFER YOU
- Direct ownership of some of the organization's largest and most visible infrastructure transformation initiatives.
- An opportunity to establish stronger planning and delivery discipline across an evolving infrastructure organization.
- Significant exposure to senior IT leadership and the ability to influence how major technology initiatives are structured and executed.
- Work alongside experienced technical leaders who own architecture and engineering while you own the path from technical strategy to successful execution.
- A complex transformation environment where strong project leadership will have an immediate, measurable impact.
- Long-term opportunity to help shape project management standards across cloud, infrastructure, security, and platform initiatives.
WHY THIS ROLE IS IMPORTANT
- The organization is simultaneously executing major cloud migration, data center, networking, security, and platform initiatives.
- A core priority is creating greater discipline around Work Breakdown Structure, resource planning, sequencing, dependencies, and execution readiness.
- This person will take high-level technical initiatives and turn them into clear, structured, executable project plans before work begins.
- The expectation is simple: plan the work, then work the plan.
- You will help ensure teams understand exactly what needs to happen, in what order, by whom, and against what timeline before major infrastructure initiatives move into execution.
- You will lead programs that include a large-scale cloud migration involving approximately 90 applications, 241 servers, and 400+ SQL instances, along with a broader data center exit strategy.
- The role will also bring stronger accountability to external technology partners, ensuring vendor-delivered work remains aligned to scope, milestones, dependencies, and contractual commitments.
- Success in this position will create greater predictability, transparency, and execution discipline across the infrastructure portfolio.
THE BACKGROUND THAT FITS
- 7+ years of IT project or program management experience with significant ownership of complex technology initiatives.
- 4+ years specifically managing IT infrastructure programs, such as cloud migrations, data center consolidation or exits, networking transformations, security programs, or infrastructure modernization.
- Demonstrated ability to build and own a detailed Work Breakdown Structure, taking ambiguous or high-level technical scope and decomposing it into sequenced, assignable work packages.
- Experience developing comprehensive project plans covering scope, milestones, dependencies, resource allocation, risk, budget, and delivery timelines.
- Hands-on experience supporting cloud migration initiatives across Azure, AWS, or GCP. Azure experience is highly preferred.
- Experience managing projects involving on-premises infrastructure, networking, databases, security, or other enterprise infrastructure environments.
- Strong vendor program management experience, including managed services, staff augmentation, and fixed-scope SOW engagements.
- Ability to hold external partners accountable to deliverables, milestones, budgets, and contractual commitments.
- Strong understanding of infrastructure cutovers, migration planning, rollback strategies, go/no-go criteria, and operational risk.
- Comfortable coordinating multiple technical teams and managing dependencies across Infrastructure, Security, Applications, Database, and external partners.
- Strong executive communication skills with the ability to translate highly technical work into clear project status, risks, decisions, and business impact.
- Experience with Jira, MS Project, Smartsheet, or comparable project and portfolio management tools.
- PMP, PgMP, data center migration experience, Jira administration, Infrastructure as Code familiarity, or experience managing 100+ server / instance migrations would be highly valuable.
