WHAT YOU WILL DO:
-
Prepare and file multi-state indirect tax returns (sales, use, excise, and heavy equipment tax) for all legal entities across the enterprise
-
Serve as the primary contact for operations teams to resolve tax-related inquiries, including exemption support, billing issues, and miscellaneous tax concerns
-
Manage and maintain tax exemption certificates using Vertex, ensuring system accuracy and compliance
-
Perform quarterly audits of exempt transactions to confirm proper documentation and audit readiness
-
Reconcile sales and use tax accounts monthly using SAP and Vertex, with thorough documentation
-
Review and validate accrued use tax from AP, including invoice review and correcting inaccurate entries
-
Coordinate indirect tax audits, including preparation of documentation and responses for sales, use, and excise tax reviews

Monitor and prepare entries for monthly sales tax reserves across multiple business units
-
Register for new sales tax, business licenses, and related obligations based on jurisdictional sales analysis

File quarterly and annual returns for heavy equipment tax and remit excise tax payments semimonthly
-
Utilize Alteryx to maintain and improve tax-related workflows and data transformation
-
Participate actively in SAP and Vertex ERP implementation projects, with potential to serve as Team Lead for Vertex integrations
-
Provide process improvement recommendations, participate in training development, and support change management initiatives
-
Assist and potentially lead junior team members on compliance tasks and special projects
HOW YOU ARE QUALIFIED:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
-
Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in sales and use tax or indirect tax compliance
-
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and experience with SAP
-
Experience with Vertex preferred; knowledge of other platforms like Avalara is a plus
-
CPA candidate preferred

Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and a collaborative work ethic
-
Demonstrated ability to manage high-volume, multi-jurisdictional tax filings with accuracy and efficiency
