THE TEAM YOU WILL BE JOINING
You will be joining a rapidly growing healthcare services organization that provides physician care to assisted living and long-term care facilities across the United States. The company supports more than 600 physicians and a growing national footprint, delivering care directly within partner facilities rather than operating traditional hospital infrastructure.

The technology team is expanding across infrastructure, data engineering, and security, creating an opportunity for an experienced security engineer to play a foundational role in shaping the company’s cybersecurity capabilities.
LOCATION
  • Charlotte, NC (Concord) – Hybrid, 2x per week Onsite
WHAT THEY OFFER YOU
  • Opportunity to build and influence the organization’s security program
  • A collaborative environment within a growing healthcare platform
  • Exposure to both security engineering and strategic program development
  • The ability to work across modern security technologies including Microsoft security platforms and secure access architecture
  • Long-term career growth as the internal technology organization continues to expand
WHY THIS ROLE IS IMPORTANT
  • This organization is transitioning from a managed service provider (MSP) support model to a fully internal technology team, creating a critical need for experienced security leadership and engineering expertise.
  • Historically, security functions have been minimal and primarily focused on baseline operational controls. This role will help establish the foundation for the company’s cybersecurity program, including implementing modern security tooling, improving threat detection capabilities, and strengthening regulatory compliance posture within a healthcare environment.
  • This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys building systems, improving security maturity, and owning security outcomes within a growing organization.
WHAT YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR
  • Implement and optimize security capabilities across the Microsoft security ecosystem including Defender, Purview, and identity controls
  • Support the rollout and management of secure access and network security platforms such as Zscaler
  • Develop and maintain identity-first security controls, including conditional access and least-privilege policies
  • Strengthen endpoint security and device management posture
  • Perform end-to-end threat hunting and investigation
  • Monitor and analyze security events across endpoints, identities, networks, and cloud environments
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement remediation strategies
  • Continuously improve detection and response capabilities
  • Help establish foundational security standards, processes, and operational practices
  • Support initiatives to strengthen HIPAA security posture
  • Contribute to long-term security initiatives including HITRUST and SOC 2 readiness
THE BACKGROUND THAT FITS
  • The ideal candidate will have experience working in small to mid-sized environments where security engineers operate across multiple domains rather than highly specialized security teams.
  • 7–10 years of experience in security engineering or cybersecurity operations
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft security technologies including identity, endpoint protection, and monitoring
  • Experience implementing or supporting secure access architectures and zero trust principles
  • Practical experience with threat hunting, incident response, and root cause analysis
  • Experience working in environments where security programs are being built or matured
  • This opportunity is best suited for a security professional who enjoys hands-on technical work, collaborative environments, and building security capabilities that scale with organizational growth.
