WHERE IT IS LOCATED
- On-site in the greater eastern Charlotte area with approximately 30% of the role involving fieldwork at various organizational locations
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Lead and continuously improve safety and risk management programs, policies, procedures, and compliance initiatives across the organization
- Conduct safety inspections and lead or coordinate root-cause investigations involving workplace injuries, vehicle accidents, property damage, and other incidents
- Administer workers’ compensation and other claims while partnering with employees, insurance carriers, case managers, brokers, and claims representatives
- Develop and deliver safety training and partner with operational teams to educate employees and promote practical, proactive safety practices
- Monitor OSHA requirements and other applicable regulations, ensuring appropriate reporting, documentation, and corrective actions
- Support insurance, property, liability, and broader risk management activities, including working with brokers and underwriters as needed
- Partner with HR and operational leadership on employee investigations, safety concerns, and other sensitive workplace matters
HOW YOU ARE QUALIFIED
- 3+ years of experience in occupational safety, risk management, workers’ compensation, claims, or a related field
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations, workplace safety, workers’ compensation, and risk management practices
- Experience developing or improving safety programs, policies, procedures, or employee training
- Experience conducting incident investigations and identifying root causes and preventative measures
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills with the ability to work effectively with both field-based employees and leadership
- Experience in a municipal, manufacturing, construction, public safety, utilities, transportation, or other operational environment is highly relevant; relevant safety, risk, OSHA, or HR certifications are a plus
