THE TEAM YOU WILL BE JOINING

  • Large energy/utility company with an extensive multi-state service territory, recognized as an industry leader in delivering power to millions of customers.
  • Well-established organization with a mature program management framework and clear processes for how work gets done.
  • Collaborative environment where program managers partner closely with dedicated technical subject matter experts rather than working in isolation.

WHAT THEY OFFER YOU

  • A standard 40-hour work week with no overtime expected.
  • Broad visibility across the organization, building relationships from individual contributors up through senior department leadership.
  • A strong internal support structure — a dedicated technical expert partners with you on every program, so you can focus on process and coordination rather than deep technical execution.
  • A desk-based, coordination-focused role with minimal to no required travel.

WHERE THIS POSITION SITS

  • Supports programs spanning multiple operating regions/zones across the Carolinas; primarily desk-based, with coordination handled largely by phone and email.

WHY THIS ROLE IS IMPORTANT

  • Takes on program management oversight that was previously handled by engineering leads, freeing up technical staff to focus on core engineering work.
  • Keeps operations and maintenance programs on schedule, on budget, and well-coordinated across contract vendors, internal stakeholders, and regional teams.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

  • Owns program management oversight for multiple O&M-related infrastructure maintenance and risk-mitigation programs.
  • Manages contract vendor relationships, including monitoring work plans, budgets, spend, and reviewing and approving invoices.
  • Builds and maintains relationships with stakeholders across multiple operating regions, coordinating scope execution and keeping teams aligned.
  • Supports program execution through desktop reviews and internal data analysis, packaging work for handoff to regional technical teams.
  • Partners with internal technical subject matter experts and works cross-functionally to ensure:
    • The success of both new and ongoing program initiatives
    • Proactive, consistent communication with stakeholders and vendors
    • Alignment and sign-off from key internal stakeholders at each program milestone
  • Provides regular status reporting on program health, budget, and spend to leadership.

THE BACKGROUND THAT FITS

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university.
  • 5–9 years of project/program management experience.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build relationships and drive execution through others across multiple locations and teams.
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs, and the critical thinking needed to interpret complex data.
  • Utility industry experience (e.g., power distribution, transmission, or similar infrastructure) preferred but not required.
  • PMP or CAPM certification, an MBA or related master's degree, or a construction-related certification (e.g., CMII, PE license) is a plus.
