- Complete the full billing cycle for assigned projects, ensuring efficiency and accuracy to minimize billing and collections cycle times.
- Work directly with clients to provide high levels of customer service, address client needs, and provide solutions.
- Follow through on all billing-related issues to resolution, including invoice corrections.
- Monitor project financial performance monthly and collaborate with project managers as needed.
- Maintain and monitor project-specific budgets, spreadsheets, and provide ad hoc required reports.
- Coordinate collection efforts and resolve aged WIP (Work in Progress).
- Attend project review calls and assist in month-end revenue review as needed.
- Work closely with Collections, Payables, and the General Ledger team to resolve project-related issues.
- Manage and oversee project accounting activities to ensure accurate financial tracking and reporting for multiple projects.
- Monitor project budgets, costs, and revenues, identifying variances and providing detailed financial analysis to project managers and leadership.
- Collaborate closely with project managers and operational teams to ensure financial data aligns with project progress and contractual obligations.
- Prepare and review project financial reports, including status updates, forecasts, and owner reporting packages to support stakeholder decision-making.
- Support accounting functions related to project billing, revenue recognition, cost allocations, and contract compliance.
- Assist in the implementation and maintenance of project accounting systems and processes, including Deltek and Microsoft Office tools.
- Provide financial insights and training to project teams to improve budgeting accuracy and financial controls.
- Coordinate with internal departments and external auditors to facilitate audits and ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
THE BACKGROUND THAT FITS
- B.S. in Accounting/Finance OR A.S. in Accounting/Finance with an additional 2 years accounting/billing experience.
- 3 years (or 5 years with an Associate's Degree) in project accounting or billing experience, preferably in the engineering, construction and/or architecture industry.
- Excellent MS Suite skills, specifically Excel, and including Word, Outlook, and Access.
- Experience with Deltek Vision/Vantagepoint or ERP software is preferred.
- Strong organization, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and handle multiple deadlines with ease.
- Able to work independently as well as in a team-oriented and fast-paced environment.
- Accuracy in preparing and proofing billing for accuracy.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Experience within consulting, environmental services, construction, or related industries preferred.
