Why This Role Is Important
- Lead the day-to-day payroll operations for more than 3,000 employees across the U.S. and Canada, ensuring payroll is processed accurately, timely, and in compliance with all regulations.
- Supervise and mentor a team of payroll professionals while serving as the escalation point for complex payroll, tax, and compliance issues.
- Manage multi-state and multi-jurisdiction payroll tax compliance, reconciliations, audits, quarterly filings, and year-end reporting activities.
- Partner with HR, Finance, and third-party vendors to resolve payroll issues, improve processes, and support acquisitions, integrations, and ongoing system enhancements.
- Serve as the payroll subject matter expert, driving accuracy across complex payroll scenarios including union employees, stock awards, garnishments, relocations, bonuses, and changing workforce populations.
The Background That Fits
- 5+ years of progressive payroll experience with leadership or supervisory responsibilities in a complex corporate environment.
- Deep expertise in multi-state payroll processing, payroll tax compliance, payroll reconciliations, and federal, state, and provincial payroll regulations.
- Hands-on experience with Ceridian Dayforce is strongly preferred, along with exposure to SuccessFactors or similar enterprise HRIS platforms.
- Proven ability to manage payroll complexity across multiple legal entities, FEINs, acquisitions, union environments, garnishments, child support orders, and high-volume employee populations.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills with experience partnering cross-functionally with HR, Finance, Tax, and external payroll vendors to solve complex payroll challenges.
