WHY THIS ROLE IS IMPORTANT:
  • Oversees the complete payroll lifecycle, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time across multiple companies
  • Maintains compliance with all federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations while managing payroll reporting and filings
  • Serves as the primary payroll resource for employees, HR, Finance, and leadership by resolving payroll questions and discrepancies
  • Ensures accurate administration of garnishments, deductions, employee benefits, and timekeeping data
  • Supports audits, maintains payroll records, and identifies opportunities to improve payroll processes, controls, and overall efficiency
  • Plays a critical role in maintaining employee trust through accurate, confidential, and compliant payroll administration

THE BACKGROUND THAT FITS:
  • 5+ years of progressive payroll experience with responsibility for full-cycle, in-house payroll processing
  • Experience managing payroll for multi-state and/or multi-entity organizations, preferably supporting 500+ employees
  • Strong knowledge of payroll tax regulations, garnishments, employee deductions, reporting, and payroll compliance
  • Experience partnering with HR and Finance on employee benefits, payroll reconciliations, and payroll-related reporting
  • Proficiency with payroll software, ERP systems, timekeeping systems, and advanced Excel skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail, analytical abilities, and the ability to manage confidential employee information
  • Strong communication and customer service skills with the ability to resolve payroll issues professionally across all levels of the organization
  • Construction, engineering, infrastructure, or project-based industry experience is a plus
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience); CPP certification is a plus
