WHY THIS ROLE IS IMPORTANT
Payroll is essential to both employee satisfaction and organizational compliance. With over 130 employees across multiple states, accurate and timely payroll is mission-critical. This Payroll Accountant role was created to relieve the HR Manager, who has been balancing payroll on top of many other responsibilities.
You will own payroll operations end-to-end—managing W-2 processing, garnishments, reimbursements, tax setups, and allowances. You’ll oversee the time and attendance system, ensuring timely approvals, and you’ll train managers and superintendents to drive consistency. The role also supports onboarding and orientations for new hires, while assisting with accounting functions like reporting and budgeting.
This role not only ensures compliance and accuracy but also frees leadership to focus on larger business priorities and growth initiatives.
THE BACKGROUND THAT FITS
The ideal candidate will bring:

Proven experience processing multi-state payroll for W-2 employees (hourly and salaried)

Knowledge of payroll compliance including garnishments, reimbursements, and tax requirements

Familiarity with payroll systems such as ADP, Paychex, UKG, or Kronos

Accounting knowledge to support reporting, compliance, and budgeting

Proactive, detail-oriented approach, with confidence in tracking down timecard approvals and training staff

A direct and accountable communication style—comfortable interacting across all levels of the organization
