WHY THIS ROLE IS IMPORTANT

  • Serves as the strategic leader for all Parks & Recreation operations, shaping the future of community programming and public spaces
  • Leads long-range master planning efforts as the town continues rapid population and infrastructure growth
  • Oversees major capital improvement initiatives including park renovations, facility upgrades, and expansion projects
  • Drives community engagement through innovative programming, events, and partnerships with local organizations
  • Acts as a key advisor to town leadership, including board and executive stakeholders, influencing long-term planning and decision-making

THE BACKGROUND THAT FITS

  • 7–10+ years of progressive leadership experience in municipal parks and recreation or a related public sector environment
  • Proven experience managing budgets and overseeing multi-functional departments
  • Experience developing or contributing to parks and recreation master plans
  • Strong leadership presence with the ability to engage boards, elected officials, and community stakeholders
  • Passion for community impact, with a balance of operational execution and visionary thinking
  • CPRP or CPRE certification preferred, or willingness to obtain
