THE TEAM YOU WILL BE JOINING

  • Privately held, high-growth organization operating within the transportation, logistics, and freight brokerage space.
  • Fast-paced, high-volume environment supporting the LTL brokerage division and inside sales teams across multiple office locations.
  • Lean but highly collaborative HR team with direct visibility across senior HR leadership, operations, sales leadership, recruiting, and field management.
  • Supportive leadership style that offers autonomy and availability without micromanagement, while expecting strong responsiveness, fairness, and ownership.
  • Organization is navigating continued growth, integration, and operational change, creating a strong opportunity for HR to directly influence leadership effectiveness, employee engagement, and workforce alignment.

LOCATION

  • Charlotte, North Carolina.
  • On-site with the local team, with regular travel to additional office locations including Chicago, Minneapolis, Denver, Chattanooga, and Atlanta.
  • Travel expectation is approximately 40%,

  • High-impact role supporting approximately 400 employees across LTL brokerage and inside sales.
  • Visibility and partnership with key business leaders, including vice presidents overseeing the LTL division and inside sales.
  • Ability to influence workforce planning, staffing strategy, employee engagement, leadership coaching, performance management, and organizational change.
  • Collaborative HR structure with peer support from other HRBPs and a generalist, while still offering autonomy and ownership over your business group.

WHY THIS ROLE IS IMPORTANT

  • This person will support approximately 400 employees across multiple locations within a fast-paced LTL brokerage and inside sales environment.
  • The role will partner closely with business leaders to provide workforce planning, staffing strategies, employee engagement support, and leadership coaching.
  • This individual will support a demanding leadership population that operates independently and requires an experienced HR partner who can influence, push back respectfully, and stand firm when needed.
  • The business has experienced growth, integration, and operational change, creating a need for HR leadership around manager coaching, workforce alignment, hiring practices, retention, and employee relations.
  • This is a hands-on HRBP role requiring someone comfortable being close to the employee population, sitting on-site with the Charlotte team, and traveling regularly to stay connected to the broader business.
  • THE BACKGROUND THAT FITS
  • Several years of progressive HRBP experience; this is not an entry-level HR role.
  • Experience supporting large employee populations, ideally 250+ employees across multiple levels, locations, and functions.
  • Strong workforce planning, staffing strategy, employee engagement, performance management, retention, and manager coaching experience.
  • Ability to partner closely with recruiting, operations, sales, and senior leadership on staffing needs, organizational changes, and workforce planning.
  • Experience supporting difficult, demanding, or highly independent leadership populations where influence without authority is required.
  • Professional confidence and sound judgment, with the ability to push back respectfully while maintaining credibility and trust with business leaders.
  • Background in transportation, logistics, freight brokerage, sales, manufacturing, hospitality, startup, or other fast-paced, high-volume environments would translate well.
  • Sales organization support experience is a plus, but not required.
  • Workday experience is a plus.
  • Intermediate Excel skills are a plus.
  • Hands-on, flexible, and independent HR professional who can operate without heavy oversight, adapt quickly as business needs shift, and build strong relationships across multiple locations.
