THE TEAM YOU WILL BE JOINING:

  • A well-established manufacturing organization investing in a multi-year data modernization strategy
  • An experienced technology leadership team with executive approval and funding to build a new enterprise data platform
  • A collaborative environment currently implementing a new ERP while modernizing how data is integrated, governed, and delivered across the business
  • A team that has established its strategic direction and is seeking an experienced architect to accelerate execution and strengthen the technical approach
  • An organization balancing the development of a scalable enterprise platform with immediate business demands for actionable data and KPI reporting

WHAT THEY OFFER YOU:

  • A highly visible, 3- to 6-month consulting engagement with the opportunity to build a Microsoft Fabric environment from the ground up
  • Ownership of the foundational architecture, governance model, and repeatable development processes
  • Direct partnership with IT and engineering leadership throughout the project
  • The ability to influence a multi-year data modernization initiative rather than simply maintain an existing environment
  • Flexibility for remote candidates with proven Fabric implementation experience, although local or hybrid participation is preferred
  • A defined opportunity to establish the platform and successfully transition ownership to an internal data engineering resource

WHY THIS ROLE IS IMPORTANT:

  • Architect and establish Microsoft Fabric as the organization’s enterprise data platform
  • Design a scalable medallion architecture across bronze, silver, and gold data layers
  • Recommend best practices for data ingestion, pipelines, dataflows, notebooks, lakehouse structures, security, and governance
  • Integrate data from a new Datatex ERP, FP&A systems, EH&S applications, production monitoring platforms, and other cloud and on-premises sources
  • Develop practical interim solutions that address urgent business needs without compromising the long-term architecture
  • Create repeatable processes, documentation, and standards that enable the internal team to independently operate and expand the platform

THE BACKGROUND THAT FITS:

  • Senior-level experience architecting and building Microsoft Fabric environments from the ground up
  • Demonstrated expertise with Azure, Fabric lakehouse architecture, Direct Lake, data pipelines, dataflows, notebooks, and medallion architecture
  • Experience connecting cloud-based and on-premises data sources through secure integration and data bridge solutions
  • Ability to establish governance, development standards, deployment processes, and scalable architectural patterns
  • Comfortable challenging existing technical decisions and presenting clear, experience-based alternatives
  • Proven success delivering enterprise-grade architecture while also creating pragmatic solutions for immediate business priorities

LOCATION:

  • Remote candidates will be considered based on the depth of their Microsoft Fabric implementation experience
  • Candidates located near the Charlotte region and able to provide periodic onsite support are preferred
  • Initial contract duration of 3 to 6 months
