THE TEAM YOU WILL BE JOINING

  • You will be joining AccruePartners’ Project Solutions practice, partnering with a nationally recognized provider of critical power and infrastructure services supporting a distributed field workforce across the U.S.
  • The organization is early in its AI and data-automation journey, but leadership is focused on practical use cases with direct operational and financial impact—not experimentation for experimentation’s sake.
  • This engagement will work closely with executive leadership, Operations, Fleet, Field Services, Finance, and IT to turn defined business problems into scalable data workflows, automated exception reporting, and AI-enabled decision support.
  • The initial focus will be on connecting telematics, timekeeping, ERP, and reporting data to improve visibility into field labor utilization, windshield time, timecard accuracy, and sources of operational leakage.

WHAT THEY OFFER YOU

  • Opportunity to help shape the organization’s early AI and data-automation roadmap through high-value, business-led use cases.
  • Direct access to executive and operational leadership, including the COO and leaders responsible for fleet, field operations, and workforce performance.
  • Fully remote consulting engagement with autonomy to assess the environment, define the solution approach, and build practical workflows.
  • Opportunity to create solutions that improve labor visibility, manager decision-making, timecard accuracy, and field productivity.
  • Exposure to complex, real-world data across telematics, timekeeping, ERP, financial, and operational systems.
  • Defined, time-bound consulting structure with the potential to expand into additional AI, anomaly-detection, expense-review, and quoting-automation use cases.

WHY THIS ROLE IS IMPORTANT

  • The organization has already identified several AI and automation opportunities but does not have an internal resource with the technical depth to translate those business-defined use cases into functioning workflows.
  • The initial priority is to build a recurring manager-facing exception-reporting process that compares employee GPS and geofence activity against timecard data. The goal is to create better visibility into actual windshield time, potential timecard discrepancies, excessive travel, early return-home activity, warehouse stops, and other sources of avoidable labor loss.
  • This consultant will help establish the underlying data model, integration logic, business rules, reporting workflow, and exception criteria needed to make the solution operationally useful. Success will give field leaders a repeatable way to review exceptions, validate context, and follow up with employees or managers based on facts rather than assumptions.
  • Over time, the same foundation may expand into invoice and travel-expense anomaly detection, document extraction from technical drawings, and AI-enabled quoting support.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

  • Assess and connect data across Geotab telematics, ADP timekeeping, Business Central ERP, Power BI, and related operational data sources.
  • Build data pipelines, SQL logic, and reporting workflows that reconcile GPS/geofence activity against employee timecards.
  • Define and automate recurring exception reporting for managers, including scenarios such as excessive drive time, clock-out variances after returning home, unexplained stops, and timecard-to-location discrepancies.
  • Develop a common data model across employees, vehicles, jobsites, home locations, warehouses, time records, and field activity.
  • Partner with Operations, Fleet, Payroll, Finance, and IT stakeholders to define thresholds, exception logic, workflow ownership, and manager follow-up requirements.
  • Create dashboards, reports, and/or automated notifications that allow managers to review and investigate flagged activity.
  • Identify data-quality gaps, integration constraints, and governance requirements before broader automation is scaled.
  • Translate additional business-defined use cases into scalable data and AI workflow designs.
  • Recommend practical approaches to anomaly detection, workflow automation, AI enablement, and future agent development.

THE BACKGROUND THAT FITS

  • Strong experience as a Senior Data Analytics Engineer, Data Engineer, Analytics Engineer, Data Automation Consultant, or similar hands-on role.
  • Advanced SQL capability with experience building data models, transformation logic, exception rules, and recurring reporting workflows.
  • Experience integrating and analyzing data across workforce, fleet, telematics, timekeeping, field service, ERP, payroll, finance, or operational systems.
  • Strong Power BI or comparable BI/dashboard experience.
  • Python and API/data-pipeline development experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with GPS, geospatial, telematics, vehicle, route, or field-workforce data is highly preferred.
  • Experience translating ambiguous business questions into scalable technical requirements, data logic, dashboards, and automated workflows.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML, anomaly detection, LLMs, RAG, workflow automation, or AI-agent development is helpful; practical operational analytics experience is more important for the initial engagement.
  • Comfortable working directly with senior operational leaders and business users in a fast-moving, evolving environment.
