WHY THIS ROLE IS IMPORTANT

  • Own the preparation and authorship of the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR)
  • Play a direct role in maintaining audit quality and supporting the organization’s bond rating
  • Partner closely with external auditors and internal stakeholders across departments
  • Lead key components of financial reporting, including audit schedules, reconciliations, and compliance documentation
  • Contribute to process improvements within a growing organization experiencing continued expansion

THE BACKGROUND THAT FITS

  • 5+ years of accounting experience with strong exposure to audit preparation or external audit support
  • Experience working with auditors, building workpapers, and understanding audit flow end-to-end
  • Knowledge of GAAP required, exposure to GASB highly preferred
  • Background in government, not-for-profit, or public accounting environments strongly aligned
  • Strong Excel skills with experience in reconciliations, lead schedules, and financial analysis
  • Ability to communicate effectively and operate in a collaborative, detail-oriented environment
